It has been a really long time since I have found the time and inspiration to sit and write. No words come to mind to describe the fatigue and rush of life at the moment, but nevertheless… weeks later, Im back.
Three days ago it was my sweet and my first wedding anniversary, to celebrate the journey of the past year we went away, just the two of us. My wee Edie spent the weekend with her grandparents, bless them. The tears and anxiety of leaving her were remedied fast as I experienced the astonishing beauty as we drove . Mother natures distraction, as if she did it just for me.
Through the hustle and bustle of life I seemed to forget what life was like outside my mummy bubble. How intense and surreal the countryside is outside my patch of grass. On our journey, autumn displayed its finest show, trees so florescent in colour they seemed man made. Leaves of the brightest yellows on fire as if to put on there best face before their final dance and descend. It was incredible and inspiring. I had lost my drive to paint and create over the last few months but the scenery has renewed me. Even my husband was in awe by the colours and to him beauty is at its best in the form of a try on the rugby field. I think it was the presence of the two of us as well which made each moment go from strength to strength, remembering who I am as a woman and not a mum, remembering the man I married and why. Butterflies!!
We wined, dined and relaxed in luxury and spent the evening in the bush in a hot pool crafted by nature again, a hot waterfall under moonlight. Almost sounds imaginary. Despite the cliche…what an amazing country we live in.
Usually the high of a getaway is slumped by the piles of washing and unpacking but like children at Christmas we both waited patiently for our biggest gift to come home. Smothered by two adoring parents Edie got an unforgettable greeting.
Today I am a mum again, elbows in washing, home clothes adorned but inside I am renewed and rejuvenated and passionate about the world outside my mummy bubble again. Today I am going to put the inspiration on canvas and paint.
Happy Anniversary baby, I love you more each day!!xx
