My posts have been very scarce recently, apologies. Being a mum is one thing but being a mum AND a foster mum as well is another!!! Currently I am playing nanny to a 5 month old three days and nights a week, his mum is working night shifts so I volunteered. It has been going well most of the time but there are times when I crave silence and solitude. I have to say that I relish my time with Eden more now, the times when I just have to think about her and myself are so much easier. I also should add, I relish my time with my McDonalds mochacchino more now also!!! Heaven in a disposable cup.
Having two babies around the same age has taught me many things, appreciation for individuality mostly. (Appreciation for sleep is another). It is amazing to sit back and watch the milestones Edie and her friend are achieving at their different stages. What one is confident in, the other is beginning and visa versa. We are all made up of qualities; individual and unique and our rate of development is no different. We are guided and encouraged in life but it is down to us to reach our own goals and in our own time.
Edie is learning to roll; the concentration, effort and frustration to move that little body over is so rewarding to watch. Her puzzled and determined face, her effort-forced grunts followed by her elated shrieks when she reaches her goal is inspiring. In contrast, her friend has been rolling for a while and delights in watching her try. The both of them are on solids and have a private competition in creating mess, the three of us usually get covered in pureed rainbows. Between fingers, up noses, in ears, some of it hiding only to be discovered hours later in a more solid form. This curious age of discovery is entertaining me, I am loving every minute. Her personality is being sculpted every day, will she be like me?
As if she is answering my question her weeny words are calling me from the lounge, special sounds she uniquely owns. Time to watch and admire some more, before her friend comes to stay in a few hours. Until next blog, xx
