Watching

My new favourite pastime is watching. Usually I am not one to sit and do nothing, not one to waste time when I could be actively organising and tidying but I often find myself still. Staring. Watching. While she sleeps her little smiles that acknowledge a dream fascinate me, when shes playing her development day by day astonishes me, while shes feeding the knowledge that it is me that allows her to grow, to live, astounds me. She is my miracle and watching her is one of the most exciting, rewarding and favourite past time of my new life.
Since Eden has arrived I have noticed the pace in my life change, I no longer rush through, hurrying to reach a target but instead walk and notice the detail of life. She teaches me new things about myself everyday, she has taught me to be more relaxed, more at peace. She has taught me more about self pride and self respect than anything ever before. She has taught me about the fragility of life and the speed at which it passes, her growth is a constant reminder to take time to watch and admire.
Today she smiled like she does most days, she laughed when I kissed under her chin, she snuggled into me in a sleepy state and held my hands. Each day is a repeat of yesterday with Edie but with more detail to note if you take time, for she laughs more than yesterday, she has grown more than yesterday and adores me more than yesterday as I do her. Watching her each day and taking the time to note the change and be in each moment with her is the best past time of all.
Sunday is a day of rest, a day to watch, a day to appreciate and enjoy. Enjoy your Sunday, be still and watch. x
